Tips to cure Insomnia Naturally
Sleep is your superpower | Matt Walker
Sleep can heal you over time from a huge spectrum of diseases explaining which is not in the scope of this blog post. You can refer the book "Why we Sleep" by Sleep Researcher Dr. Matt Walker whose video is posted above. This requires consistent discipline to sleep on time and Sleep for a minimum of 8 hours no matter what happens in life.
This is like a lifelong commitment to your health. Because if you don't love the body Mother Nature gave you then you are really faking love for others due to social pressures. Looking after your own health is not selfishness. Health is the natural right of every child of Mother Nature. Sleep is the fundamental platform on which all other health care routines depend on.
In fact the sleep human sleep is so unique that we can attribute the development of our well developed Prefrontal cortex by evolutionary process to the very complexity of human sleep pattern. Prefrontal cortex is the master rower of our life in the complex interplay of Objectivity and Subjectivity which we call life. This is what makes us conscious. The ability to navigate successfully using the two oars of objectivity and subjectivity. In fact Prefrontal cortex is the only thing that makes us superior to animals. In all other physical attributes Human beings are far pathetic and poorly developed, say for example eye sight, smell, hearing, flying, swimming etc.
So the above statement was not throw mud at ourselves. But to help us understand the importance of Sleep in Human Life. Even for the Prefrontal cortex to work optimally throughout your life you have to have consistent sleep habits(8 hrs minimum with good Sleep discipline).
2) Fasting:
For understanding the important role of fasting in our life we have to look briefly at the history of life on earth. Earth is 4.5 Billion(4,500,000,000,000) Years Old. First life on earth happened around 3.5 Billion years ago. As Anti-Ageing Researcher Dr. David Sinclair explains beautifully in his book "Lifespan" the conditions on earth at that time was extremely difficult. We had no stable atmospheric composition to speak of, no stable climatic zones UV, gamma and cosmic rays were bombarding on every inch of the earth making it near impossible for life to survive.
As he explains beautifully in his book Dr.David Sinclair shares with us the secret how this ancient ancestor of all creatures on planet earth The simple survival recipe that this organism used was to hunker down in terms of reproduction and eating and divert the essential nutrients and energy to self repair when conditions became too difficult. For more information on genetic pathways of Self Healing I request you to follow the teachings of Dr.David Sinclair via YouTube or by buying his book.
Fast forward to first human ancestors just 5 to 7 million years ago. This is nothing compared to 3500 million years of history of life on earth. Human ancestors were leading a life of Hunter Gatherer till around just 20,000 years back. So for more that 6.45(approx.) million years humans were hunter gatherers. Also we have to keep in mind the 3500 million prior history of life on earth. Nature was providing food for humans and all other creatures. The problem with depending on nature for food was that nature was not providing 3 time meal or 7 course dinner. There was tremendous uncertainty in the what a human being will be able to hunt or gather for food on a particular day. Maybe he/she was hungry for days and then got a huge catch.
However life from the last 3500 million years was designed to handle uncertainity of food supply not the kind of certainity of three meals a day and innumerable snacks and sugary treats per day which found it's way home into our life during the last 20000 years of agricultural lifestyle and the 200 years of Industrialization revolution and last 30-40 years of digital revolution. You can now search for your favorite food online and order it and get it delivered to your door step with in a matter of minutes. This was never possible in the last 3500 million years of life on earth.
We moved fast but the machine called body which is made from ancient genes dating back 3500 million years ago did not catch up so fast. The way in which the choice and availability of nourishment is going it may take another half a million years for human genes to catch up with the availability of nourishment. Hence we have a plethora of diseases.
How modern eating habits destroy health is not in the scope of this post. Lots of information is available in the internet. Also there is lot of resources in internet regarding the benefits and types of fasting. A lot of fasting and diet plans have evolved recently but if you look at the fundamental guiding principle of various dieting and fasting plans are to mimic the Hunter Gatherer lifestyle of uncertainty in terms of choice and availability of nourishment.
